OLD SCHOOL

Old School is digital illustration on a photograph that I took in one of the older quarters of Dubai. It's a project on nostalgia and the narrative is creating illustrations that reflect a memory of a place, time and person that with time is no longer. It's a conversation of change and development, of growing up in Dubai in the 80s and 90s and seeing these changes first hand. Unable to photographically document memories passed these memories are now revisited as illustrations.
Alia Al Shamsi is half Emarati, half Italian born and raised in Dubai. She is a published author and artist with a background in Photography and Psychology.
